I have been asked a LOT about separation anxiety of late and so I thought I would add the separation anxiety series that I did for DogFest last year to the blog. There are four videos in total and today’s video focusses on explaining what separation anxiety is and how to spot the signs of separation anxiety.
Lots of you are worried about your dog developing separation anxiety due to you being at home more than normal and your dog not having many oportunites to spend time alone. Others already have dogs who are experiencing separation anxiety, which can be very stressful and upsetting for all involved.
I think we can all agree that no one wants their dog to feel any level of stress so over the next few videos you will find some easy to implement training advice and tips to help prevent and overcome separation anxiety.
As with all training undertaken, remember to take your training slowly, building up the exercises gradually, and work at your dog’s pace. If necessary, don’t be afraid to seek the advice of an accredited behaviourist who can tailor a programme to your individual dog and their needs.
Happy training!
