HOW TO TEACH THE STAY COMMAND – PART FOUR

Here is the fourth and final video tutorial of my four part series on how to teach your dog to ‘STAY’. Don’t forget to go back and check out the first three videos if you haven’t already, and of course subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can come back to them for future reference.

In this video I show you how to remove the lead and start increasing the distance you move away from your dog whilst asking them to stay. Over time you can build on this, practising in busier environments and also moving further away and asking them to stay for longer periods of time. To up the challenge even more you can even ask your dog to stay and move out of sight – this one is for the advanced dog but definitely something to aim for!

As before, make sure your dog has mastered the first three steps before moving onto this fourth step. And practise in a familiar and secure location before moving onto different contexts.

Let me know if you’ve given any of the training a go so far.

Happy training!
