Enhancing your dog’s mental wellbeing (Part 1) – An introduction to the benefits of food dispensing toys

I have teamed up with the lovely people at Barking Heads in order to provide tips on how to enrich your dog’s day further through using food dispensing toys.

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing tutorials on how to mentally stimulate your dog through the use of food dispensing toys. These can be an excellent addition to your doggy ‘toy box’. Not only can food dispensing toys help to improve your dog’s day by alleviating boredom, giving them a challenge (and a tasty reward!) and making their brain ‘work’, they can also be a useful tool in helping to alleviate some behavioural issues such as separation anxiety.

So, using the delicious Barking Heads food and treats, here is the first video of seven. During this video you will learn about:

  • The benefits of using food dispensing toys for all ages of dog.
  • Some of the different types of food dispensing toys available.
  • How each might be used.
  • Which age, breed and ‘types’ of dog each might be best suited to.

Keep a look out for our next set of video tutorials, which will cover how to use each food dispensing toy type in more detail, including tips on how to fill your toys for a fussy eater as well as how to up the challenge for a more eager, determined dog!
